About Griffin Hi, we’re Griffin. We’re a fully regulated UK bank that powers the accounts and payments offerings of product-led fintechs and platforms like Uber, Yonder, Prosper, and Sidekick. By doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes, our customers can focus on what they do best - delivering amazing customer experiences. We’ve grown rapidly since our launch in 2024, and today provide the banking backbone behind products in remittance, payroll, wealth, insurance, proptech, payments, neobanking and more. We’re moving into card issuing, stablecoin infrastructure, and agentic finance next as we continue to support the next generation of product-led companies. Learn more about what we do Our culture We believe that smart, motivated, conscientious people thrive in high-trust, high-autonomy environments and have done our best to create such an environment at Griffin. People who thrive here don’t require much hand-holding, and go out of their way to figure out how to contribute in the most valuable way possible. We've been remote-first since we were established in 2017 and we remain so today. Work here is asynchronous and fully flexible - because we want to be a part of your life in a way that helps you to get the most out of both your work and home life. We understand that our culture and ways of working aren’t for everyone, and we’re very intentional about our hiring process as a result. We won't hire people who don’t seem like a strong fit for our core values, even if they're otherwise extremely qualified. Our strong culture has helped us to remain a mission-driven company as we have scaled, and gives our people a clear, explicit operating framework and the space to focus on delivering real value for our customers. Learn more about our culture. The Team The Craft function has seven small, cross-functional engineering teams - each with engineers, an engineering manager, and a product manager, working closely with designers. You will work across the whole Craft function, with the remit of improving our controls and cyber security governance. You will initially work with and report to the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure as you establish yourself and take on your day to day responsibilities, additionally you will work closely with our CTO and Founder, Allen Rohner . The Opportunity We're looking for an Engineer 1.5 to become the engineering voice of security, compliance and assurance at Griffin. Sitting across engineering, security, risk and operational resilience, you'll turn standards and regulatory expectations into practical controls that engineers actually want to use and you’ll build those controls yourself, shipping code to production alongside the engineering team. You’ll also give our second and third lines real confidence in what we’ve built. It’s a rare hybrid role with broad ownership and a direct hand in strengthening Griffin’s security. What Success Looks Like In your first 6 months, you'll have taken ownership of our certification, attestation and audit work including ISO 27001 and SWIFT, with evidence organised and findings driven through to closure. Our engineering risks and controls will be well maintained, and our release, change and post-incident processes will be stronger. You’ll have shipped code that automates control checks and evidence collection, and you’ll be a regular contributor to our codebase. By month 12 our resilience plans, including Important Business Service technical mapping, B& Continuity Planning and disaster recovery, will be current, and security and compliance will be easier to run and easier to demonstrate to customers, thanks to clearer ownership and smart automation. To Do This You’ll Own Control design and cyber security governance: translating standards into practical engineering controls and building and shipping the code that puts them in place, working with Engineering teams to get them live Certifications and attestations, from SWIFT and FPS today to schemes like SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in the future, including the documentation behind them Internal and external audits and customer due diligence requests, owning findings and driving them to closure Engineering Risk and Controls Self Assessments, controls and actions, plus recurring control activity such as chaos testing and backup/restore Code release and change management, improving the process and sampling releases to check adherence to policy Post-incident reviews, including follow-up actions and sharing learnings with the right stakeholders Engineering's contribution to operational resilience (DR plans and IBS technical mapping) and to managing engineering third parties alongside Operations We expect you to shape this role This description reflects what we need today. How you achieve these outcomes, where you focus your energy, how this role evolves—that's for you to define as you learn what our customers need and where our technical gaps are. Your background To ensure this, we're looking for people who have: A hands-on engineering or technical background, including experience writing and shipping production code with an engineering-first approach to turning standards into practical controls and technical delivery Experience in security, compliance, risk or assurance within a technical environment, including owning or significantly contributing to audits, certifications or attestations Strong knowledge of compliance, risk and cyber security principles, and a broad understanding of change and release management, incident management, operational resilience and third-party governance Sharp analytical and assurance skills: spotting gaps, assessing adherence to standards and following actions through Stakeholder management and influencing skills across Engineering, SMEs, auditors and control functions, with a pragmatic, proportionate approach to governance A love of writing - we have a major amount of written documentation that you will be contributing to, and we place a high degree of importance on clarity and readability (you can find out more here about how we write ) Ideally, you would also: Be familiar with frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, SWIFT and FPS, ideally from a regulated fintech or challenger bank environment Have used automation and code to improve security, compliance or control processes and documentation What can we offer you? We are an early stage startup and we're working hard to expand our benefits package. We're planning to add to this list in the future. Remote-first flexibility: Work from anywhere in the UK Work from abroad: Up to 20 days a year Time off: 25 days’ holiday, bank holidays and a winter break (we shut down between Christmas and New Year) Share options: Own a part of what we’re building together Pension: Auto-enrolment into our Penfold scheme Insurance: Private medical with Bupa (including family cover) and life insurance with AIG Wellbeing: 1:1 coaching and therapy session available through Oliva Family leave: Enhanced parental leave with up to 6 months on full pay after two years’ service AI tools: Everyone has a Claude subscription on us and access to other premium tools Your setup: We’ll support you in creating a comfortable and effective WFH environment. As a bank, we’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of security. This means that the successful candidate will need to complete background screening, and our offer will be conditional upon satisfactory review of these checks. This would include verification of right to work, criminal record, credit history, social media and professional reference checks. How do I apply? Are we your next move? Apply via the link below, if there's a match our Talent team will reach out to schedule an initial conversation and talk you through what happens next. We’re remote-first We trust people to do great work wherever they are. We hire across the UK and most of our team works remotely full-time. We have a small London office in Moorgate for those who want it, and about a third of the company is close enough to use it occasionally, but there's no expectation to be there. What matters is the work, not where you do it. Under representation At Griffin, we’re looking for people who instinctively vibe with our values, behaviours and mission. You’re encouraged to apply, even if your experience doesn’t tick every box. Careers, like life, can take many twists and turns. Your technical expertise and path to where you are today will stand out. We're committed to creating a place where everyone belongs and we welcome diverse perspectives, backgrounds and people who are ready to build a global platform for programmable finance Griffin Bank Ltd request that recruitment agencies do not speculatively submit CVs to any employee or associate of our company unless explicitly asked to do so by a member of our Talent team. Any CVs sent to any member of our team on a speculative basis will not be recognised and we will not accept liability for any fee or commission should we subsequently employ a candidate who applied to us directly or was introduced by an instructed agency that may also have been submitted speculatively by an uninstructed agency. We are currently operating approximately 30k business accounts under a BaaS model with Swan. The role of Financial Services in our strategy is set to grow, both in terms of revenue and product contribution, to serve our 800k current customer base. As such, we are initiating a process to get licensed as Etablissement de paiement et Société de financement. Our ambition is to start onboarding new customers by mid 2027 before starting migrating existing customers. To meet this ambition, we are starting to hire our Tech, Product, Compliance, Legal and Ops leaders. We are looking for a Lead Legal Counsel to drive the legal function of our Financial Services activity and build our regulatory legal team. From the day you join until we are fully licensed, you will structure and execute the legal path to authorization: interpret requirements, translate them into an internal plan, and ensure deliverables are complete, consistent, and aligned across teams. You will help define the target operating model (intra-group and outsourced) and ensure it is legally defensible and well documented for the application. After licensing, you will shift from “building the file” to running and scaling the legal function of the regulated entity: ensuring ongoing compliance with ACPR expectations, enabling product growth safely, and keeping the operating model (including outsourcing) continuously audit-ready. You will own the legal oversight of day-to-day legal and corporate matters (policies, governance, reporting support, inspections), lead the legal work for launching new regulated products and entering new partnerships, and manage the legal aspects of onboarding and migrating customers to the licensed subsidiary (terms, communications, complaints/conduct risk). This is a greenfield project with high autonomy and responsibility, and the opportunity to shape the legal culture of a fast-growing fintech while managing and mentoring an experienced Legal Counsel, with the ambition to scale the team further as the business grows. Organisation & Reporting You will be part of the core Legal Department. Your reporting line will be Stanislas, our General Counsel. You will manage a seasoned Legal Counsel and will be responsible for planning the future growth of the Financial Services Legal team. You will also partner closely with our Financial Services Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, Chief Operational Officer and the contract team. Mission & Objectives Team Leadership & Structuring You manage, mentor, and develop your team member(s), fostering a high-performance, autonomous, and pragmatic legal culture. You structure the team’s workload and roadmap, delegating effectively while remaining deeply hands-on. You anticipate future hiring needs and actively participate in scaling the regulatory legal team. Corporate and governance You design, document and run the legal aspects of corporate governance: delegation of powers, board/committee charters, conflicts management, inter-company arrangements on payment services outsourcing, governance narrative for the ACPR reports, and ongoing legal compliance cadence once authorized. Products, contracts and customer legal architecture You own the legal design of the FS product perimeter (payments services, account services, credit/financing products as applicable). You work with the contractual team (Roland) on the associated contractual framework: customer terms, disclosures, pricing documentation, complaint handling language, and operational/legal flows (including KYC/AML handoffs, incident handling and customer communications). Outsourcing / BaaS transition & vendor contracting You own legal matters relating to critical outsourcing and third-party reliance (including existing BaaS arrangements): contract negotiation, regulatory outsourcing clauses, audit/access rights, sub-outsourcing controls, exit plans, SLAs, data protection allocation, operational resilience expectations, and documentation suitable for ACPR scrutiny. Migration readiness In close collaboration with the operation team (Maxime), you lead the legal plan for migrating customers from Swan (sequencing, consent/novation approaches, customer communications from a legal standpoint, continuity of mandates, handling of incidents/complaints, and safeguards to minimise conduct risk). Privacy and Security In close coordination with our DPO (Léa) and security stakeholders, you ensure that our Financial Services operating model address data processing roles, cross-border flows (if any), retention, incident response, recordkeeping, and contractual protections with key providers. Regulatory engagement support & internal enablement Until we are fully licenced, you help prepare ACPR interactions (Q&A packs, position papers, meeting preparation). Once authorized, you own the relationship with ACPR from a legal perspective, supporting the CCRO with legal opinions, advisory etc. You train internal stakeholders on the legal/regulatory constraints that shape product and operations, and build a “legal-by-design” approach for Financial Services. Culture, Training & Advisory You will be expected to operate as an owner, not a “support function,” and to produce pragmatic, regulator-ready outcomes. About you You have 8+ years of relevant experience, including in-house legal experience at a regulated entity (payments, EMI/PI, bank, lending/consumer credit, factoring, etc.), fintech, or BaaS. You have a proven track record or a strong aptitude for managing, mentoring, and developing team members in a fast-paced environment. You have substantial experience in regulated financial services legal work, and you are comfortable owning cross-functional programmes. Senior legal expert in a French ACPR-regulated entity (établissement de paiement, établissement de crédit, société de financement or similar). Hands on contract experience and knowledge about our regulatory environment (arrêté du 3 novembre 2014, PSD2, DORA, EBA Guidelines, etc). Skills & mindset Technical strengths You can credibly lead on : ACPR/European regulatory frameworks for payments and/or lending/financing; Outsourcing and third-party risk legal frameworks in regulated environments; Governance and regulated-entity corporate law basics. Soft skills Player-coach mentality: capable of executing complex individual contributions while guiding and empowering your team. You can work fast without losing rigour. Strong pedagogy: able to explain complex regulatory legal topics to product managers, engineers and founders in simple, actionable terms. Pragmatic, impact-driven approach, capable of operating under strong regulatory constraints without blocking innovation. Very strong written and oral communication skills in both French and English. Languages, presence and location Fluent French and English are mandatory. Based in France, with a strong preference for Paris. Regular on-site presence in Paris is expected. Partial remote is possible. This is not a fully remote role. Recruitment Process 1. Interview with Lucie (30-45 min), Senior Recruiter 2. About us Hey there! We're Lleverage, and we're making the Autonomous Back Office actually achievable for businesses. We enable European companies to integrate AI agents into their business, because AI is only useful when it actually fits into daily operations. We help the most strategic European industries – manufacturing, logistics, and wholesale – automate the messy, manual processes that most tools can’t handle. We’re a fast-growing, VC-backed scale-up based in Amsterdam, with big ambitions for 2027 and beyond. This is your chance to join early, have real impact, and grow alongside the company. If that sounds something you want to help build, we'd love to have you on board! About the role We're looking for a Go-To-Market Lead to open and lead the German market for Lleverage. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role: you set the strategy for Germany, build the first pipeline yourself, close our first German customers and own the German number. You'll work directly with our founding team, including our CCO, and you'll be the face of Lleverage in Germany. As the market grows, you'll lead a small German pod. A Go-To-Market Associate will join you to run revops and German-language outreach and calling, and a Forward Deployed Engineer will join once the first deals are signed, to deliver for those customers. Responsibilities Open and lead the German market: build pipeline from scratch and close our first German customers, focused on mid-size and larger manufacturing, logistics and wholesale companies Own the German number: set targets with the founding team and be accountable for pipeline and revenue in Germany Own the full sales cycle: from first contact to signed contract, including C-level conversations and complex, multi-stakeholder deals Build the German playbook: ICP, German-language messaging, channels and partners Lead the pod: coach the Go-To-Market Associate on pipeline and work with the Forward Deployed Engineer on first deliveries Represent Lleverage: with German customers, partners and at industry events Work directly with the founding team: on strategy, targets, approach and customer feedback Bring insights: from German customers back into product development What we’re looking for Around 10 years of B2B sales experience, with a strong track record of closing complex deals and hitting targets You have opened a market or built a sales territory from scratch before, and you have taken ownership of a number A senior seller who still loves running deals yourself and is ready to lead a small team as it grows, not a sales executive who manages from a distance You're an excellent relationship builder. You win trust fast, communicate with confidence at all levels, and genuinely enjoy the process of turning a cold conversation into a long-term partnership. You're commercially sharp and consultative. You understand that the best outcomes come from genuinely understanding someone's pain, not pitching a product. You listen well and use data to shape your priorities. You're energised by ambiguity. A new market with no playbook excites you rather than stops you. Native-level German and fluent English Based in Germany, or in the Netherlands Nice to haves A network in the German Mittelstand. Experience in B2B sales, partnerships, or business development. Background in SaaS, AI, or Consultancy. Networks in manufacturing, wholesale, distribution or the PE industry. Previous entrepreneurial experience is a big plus, built something, ran something, grew something. 50% of our team are former founders, that tells you something. Why Lleverage? Change the world, literally. Traditional industries are sitting on a massive AI opportunity and most of them haven't been reached yet. You'll be the one opening those doors. Work, learn, have fun. We're building one of the strongest commercial teams in Europe. You'll work directly with the founding team, surrounded by exceptional talent, and genuinely enjoy the people around you. Build a unique network. Lleverage is a global top AI brand. You'll connect with industry leaders and some of the most important operators in tech and traditional industry. Get autonomy and ownership. You design the approach, build the relationships, own the results, and grow with the company. Compensation. Competitive salary depending on experience, strong bonus structure (fi we win you win), and an excellent share package that makes this genuinely worth betting on.
